Pray for...

Okay, it's been awhile since I've updated things...please forgive me.  As I build a current list you will find rotating segments from the book, "Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secrets".  This will be followed by a numbered index of the matters being prayed about; hopefully, making it easier to find submitted prayer requests.  That will be followed by the requested prayer.  As I receive information, I hope to be able to do updates.

FROM "HUDSON TAYLOR'S SPIRITUAL SECRET":
"He was no giant in strength, no Atlas (nor Arnold, nor Dwayne 'Rock' Johnson - emphasis mine) to bear the world upon his shoulders.  Small in stature and far from strong, he had always to face physical limitations...he had to support himself from the time he was about sixteen.  He became a hard worker and an efficient medical man."

INDEX:
1. Each member of the mission team for 2020.
2. The Open Door
3. Our points of contact (POC) (listed separately in the request)

PRAYER REQUESTS:
1. Mission Team:
7/19: Lord, that you would work on our hearts to move forward with right motives and preparation
         starting now.

2. The Open Door:
7/19: Sustain the building.  Let it be used in a way that helps Rhodell and the surrounding
         communities.

3. Our POC's (Marie / Pastor Sue / Pastor Jeff & Dolly):
7/19: Bless Marie with helpers to keep up the building.  May it be they only receive useful donations.

1. Rhodell Medical Clinic / Fire Dept.:  The Associational Missionary has given this issue to the Mission Development Committee to be considered at their meeting on Aug 14.  Please pray they will be able to take on or support the clinic.

PRELIMINARY ANSWER: A Church in Beckley has expressed interest in supporting our mission effort in Rhodell.  I will call on Tues. (Aug 21 - the Pastor is there Tues and Wed)
Praise the Lord, the Holy Spirit is moving on this!
Aug 21, 2012 - UPDATE: The call went well.  More details are needed about the Food Lion program as well as the college scholarships.
Keep praying
Sept 4 - UPDATE: I called Food Lion for more info. on their program.  Turns out the money is to be used to fund existing food pantries.  I will turn my attention to the Beckley Foundation.  With the medical clinic now belonging to the town, let's turn our attention to the Rhodell Fire Dept.  They need siding and internal work on a new fire truck bay.
Keep praying
Sept 15 - UPDATE:  The pastor in Beckley brought a proposal before their Church council to decide on supporting our work in Rhodell.  The decision was that, as a Church, they already had enough mission work they were doing.  The Pastor did offer me an opportunity to speak at the Associational Mission Development meeting where a number of pastors from area churches meet.  So, I now have an audience with many pastors!  Praise the Lord and keep on praying!
Oct 16 - UPDATE: I spoke with officials of the town.  They will discuss using the now old town hall as a clinic.  We have a Father in heaven who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and this is for His glory.
July 28, 2013 - UPDATE: We received word the town officials will be moving back into the previous town hall building.  This allows for the opportunity to have a facility available for a doctor to be placed in Rhodell.  Please continue to pray for the Lord to provide a doctor  and the needed equipment.
July 28 - UPDATE: I should also point out the fire dept. has received the needed material (PRAISE THE LORD!)  Now they have to finish the construction.
Sept 11 - UPDATE 1: I have been remiss in doing this update; please forgive me.  Progress has been made on finishing the work in the fire department.  They are having challenges finishing it - keep this in prayer.
Sept 11 - UPDATE 2: Work is getting done on what was the previous town hall.  Pray for the Lord to enable us to purchase some basic medical equipment to occupy what used to be Dr. Roberts office that we might be able to place a doctor in Rhodell.

2. Study Program: It is our desire to see the children of Rhodell and surrounding communities have access to scholarships and grants.  I'm not sure how this will work, but we believe the Lord will make a way (hence the need for prayer).
PRELIMINARY ANSWER: As a result of the conversation with the pastor in Beckley, while on my way to work the Lord revealed the way to proceed.  At the beginning of the school year find out which seniors are interested in passing SAT's and other entrance exams.  Establish a tutoring program.  Teach test taking skills.  Obtain practice SAT test and other entrance exam material.
Praise the Lord, the Holy Spirit is moving on this!
Sept 15, 2012 - UPDATE:  One young man I spoke with wants to have a career in woodworking.  I have found two trade schools within reasonable distance to Rhodell.  Now I need to find a scholarship.  Lord Jesus, please provide what is needed that this young man could pursue an education in wood working.
Sept 25 - UPDATE: With the "impromptu" mission trip in Oct, I felt it an opportune time to meet with the pastor of the Church who had expressed a willingness to support us (the Church council decided they couldn't); the pastor did arrange for me to speak at the Associational Meeting (where several pastors would be meeting), but they are meeting on Nov 6 - election day (okay, that's a long enough sentence).  My vacation time is limited (this is a key point) and for me to drive 6 hours, speak, then drive 6 hours back - while I'll do anything in serving the Lord on this, it is election day.  Well, in communicating with him I felt the Lord putting on my mind to submit a notice in the Newsletter for that area asking for volunteer teachers (he provided me that) and if I could speak at a meeting in the summer in conjunction with when we would be there any way (this is the good part!).  They will be meeting Aug 13; tentatively we've been looking at the second week in Aug for the next mission trip! (this is something I didn't tell the pastor I've been communicating with!!!)  This all goes back to partnering with a Church body and connecting with  teachers who can help support a tutoring program there in Rhodell.  The Lord has dominion over all things - Praise Jesus!  Keep praying!
Oct 16 - UPDATE:  I spoke with a woman who lives in Rhodell.  She will pray about being a tutor for children in Rhodell (as the Lord leads).  Prayer is needed for the Lord to raise up at least two teachers who can support this woman.
Jan 21, 2013 - UPDATE: PRAISE THE LORD!!!  A very critical part of this goal has been accomplished!!!  Marie's daughter, Angel, has completed her degree in education!!!
Continue in prayer for the Lord to raise up at least two teachers who can support Angel, if she is willing to tutor the seniors in that area.
Sept 11 - UPDATE: Again I'm remiss, forgive me.  Angel has made a commitment to administer the study program for pre K aged children.  I spoke with a woman who has a child about that age and would support such a study program.  Pray the Lord will provide someone who will put a curriculum together, and for teachers to help Angel.

3. SPEAKING OPPORTUNITY:  I have put out the "feelers" for a local speaking opportunity.  Please pray they would accept, that the Lord would give me the words to speak, and that hearts would be ready to receive what is said.
Nov 19, 2012 - UPDATE:  All went well at the speaking opportunity at my Mom's church.  I remembered all my items (projector, computer, thumb drive), spoke to a crowd of about 18, and raised over $180.  Praise the Lord!  How come I'm not calling this "mission complete"?  The Lord may take this "seed" and "grow" an opportunity.
July 27, 2013 - UPDATE: Evelyn and I spoke at a church of some of the people who are traveling with us this year.  Please pray this might yield at least two more speaking opportunities.

4. THE LORD WILL PROVIDE A CONGREGATION IN BECKLEY WV TO PARTNER WITH US:   This is critical to any future endeavors of the Lords work.  We are limited in our availability by the distance from where we live.  We believe this is what the Lord wants and need prayers for the chosen group to feel lead by the Lord to partake in this work.
Mar 3, 2013 - UPDATE:  Evelyn shared with me the wife of her patient shared they are from Beckley West Virginia and attend worship services there.  They are interested in the mission work we are doing there.
Sept 11 - UPDATE: I had an opportunity to speak at the Mountain State Association meeting where I met Kevin who will be the associational missionary for the organization.  So now when I call he will know who I am and what our mission is.
