A New "Pray for..." Item
I'm surprised I hadn't added this earlier because it is something I've been praying about and working towards for some time. Check out the "Pray for..." tab, item #4. Thanks, and may the Lord richly bless you.

KICKOFF COMPLETE-NOW WE SET UP FOR A RETURN!
While it's understandable to put something together for the Lord and expect all kinds of fireworks and ha-la-ba-lu (I think I'm spelling this right-spell check can't help me now), the biggest miracle may have been the deacons meeting letting out on time so the pastor could open us in prayer.
Our next step? The first in a series of mission team meetings starting on Mar 10th.
Praise the Lord for His goodness and righteousness.
Pastor Cunningham opens with remarks and prayer |
Sharon follows with a poem and some songs | , "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" & "Come Just As You Are" |
Our main speaker, Judy Williams, told us about the work being done at the Flea Market. |
Evelyn sang, "I Am Not Afraid (of the Gospel of Christ). |
Kaye spoke on the Backpack Buddies at Selma Elementary. |
Charlie & Dianne gave an update on Operation Christmas Child. |
Bill finished with a song and closed us with prayer. |
Our next step? The first in a series of mission team meetings starting on Mar 10th.

SUPER BOWL!
The world has just finished their Super Bowl. A winner declared; an MVP chosen. Those who experienced defeat drag themselves to the locker room just trying to finish what’s left of this day.
I want to use this opportunity to say something catchy; like, “Now it’s time for God’s Super Bowl!” But the more I think about it the comparison is not appropriate. This causes me to recall how pastors I’ve listened to will, on occasion, compare the Christian life or the salvation of a new believer to a sporting event - when it’s not.
Should we be excited when a person comes to know Christ? Most definitely! In that regard I think we as believers (generally speaking) have lost sight of what is important. I think, primarily (but not solely) many are not in the fight for Jesus Christ - they are not doing spiritual battle, so there is little for them to cheer about.
While the apostle Paul does make some comparisons to the Christian life and an athlete that comparison has to do with the discipline that goes with being a successful athlete. The more accurate parallel is to that of a soldier; the examples are many, and for good reason.
As a family we are preparing for our mission kickoff to West Virginia. We have set the date for Feb 17. We are a month “behind” from when we usually hold the kickoff and we’ve rescheduled once. We are at war with an enemy that does not want to see God’s Kingdom grow and advance. This enemy tends to fight at the level of effort put forth by the believer. As our effort grows so to will the efforts by the devil to discourage, distract, and dismember us as a group. Am I worried - Philippians 4:6 & 7 tells me there is no need to worry; we do need to be watchful.
With the date set I anticipate the action to start ramping up. Please check in regularly. For those who are praying for us - thank you and may the blessing of the Lord be upon you for your service.
